Made with chilli and cheese, this stew-like dish is a must-try if you love cheese and don't mind a hint of spice in your food. Furthermore, it is pretty easy to cook at home. We bring you a recipe shared by blogger Meghana Kadu that has been going viral on Instagram.

Ingredients:

1 onion, 4 green chillies, 2 jalapeno peppers, 1/2 tomato, 4 cloves of garlic, 3 teaspoons oil, 1/2 cup water, 4 cheese slices and salt as per taste

Method:

In a hot pan, add sliced onion, followed by chopped green chillies and jalapeno peppers. Then, add chopped tomato and garlic cloves. The next step is to pour in the oil and water. Now, cover the pan with a lid and cook the ingredients for around five minutes.

After that, add the cheese slices and a dash of salt. Cover the pan with the lid again. Once the cheese melts, mix all the ingredients. And, just like that, the dish is ready.

Ema Datshi is among the most famous dishes in Bhutanese cuisine. In the Dzongkha language, which is the national language of Bhutan, Ema means chilli and Datshi means cheese. Traditionally, the cheese used in this dish is made at home from the curd of cow's or yak's milk.

You can relish Ema Datshi with rice or as an accompaniment to your meal.
